Considering Breast Augmentation?

The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who have realistic expectations about their results and are in good overall physical and mental health. Young women should also be finished developing before considering breast implants. It’s important for candidates to understand that while breast augmentation can increase breast volume, the procedure will not reduce sagging unless it is combined with a breast lift.

Women considering breast augmentation are generally seeking a boost in their breast size to better complement their figure. Many breast augmentation patients have naturally small breasts, while others may already have a moderate breast volume. Some women may have lost breast volume due to pregnancy, age or weight fluctuations and wish to regain a more youthful figure, and may include breast augmentation as part of a mommy makeover.

The best breast augmentation results are typically seen in women who have finished completing their families, as future pregnancies or weight fluctuations may impact the long-term results of breast augmentation. Planning Your Surgery

The initial step in planning your breast augmentation surgery is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Nein. During your consultation, you can discuss your goals for breast augmentation as well as ask any questions you may have.

Dr. Nein will conduct a physical evaluation during your consultation and review any variables that may affect the outcome of your surgery, such as lifestyle habits, medications or past pregnancies. Depending on the pre-operative state of your breasts and the appearance you are trying to achieve, he may recommend including a breast lift with your augmentation.

He will also explain what to expect during the surgery itself, including the placement and length of the incisions. You will be able to decide the type of implant best for your goals. Silicone and saline implants each offer different advantages, and Dr. Nein can explain the benefits of each and which option may be more complementary to your individual needs.

While your consultation is a great time to inquire about any questions or concerns you may have, we’re happy to help you through your breast augmentation process in every step of the way, including preparation and recovery.

Your Recovery & Results

Following your surgery, your breasts will feel bruised and swollen. Some degree of mild discomfort is to be expected, but most patients find that any discomfort can easily be treated with oral medications. Dr. Nein will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions.

While the healing process is a little different for every woman, in general, patients will see their swelling and bruising gradually subside over the weeks and months following surgery. Most patients resume their normal routine after only a couple of days, although more strenuous activities should be avoided for several weeks.

Stephanie’s Breast Augmentation Story

“I was pretty happy with my appearance before I had children but afterwards it just seemed like my breasts disappeared. They got bigger while I was pregnant and I was happy with that but afterwards – gone! I was unhappy with the changes that had taken place and I really started thinking about getting a breast augmentation.”
