Considering Calf Enlargement?

Calf enlargement candidates may be interested in the procedure for a variety of reasons, but in general, patients should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about their results. Calf enlargement patients can include men and women who have trouble building calf muscle and would like a more shapely appearance to their calves. Additionally, calf enlargement can assist patients overcoming neuromuscular diseases, physical disabilities, muscle atrophy or a past injury.

Calf enlargement patients are usually men or women who are discontent with the thin or weak appearance of their calves and wish to achieve more proportionate leg contours. While calf enlargement can’t completely transform your leg contours, it can help to provide better balance to your contours and create a toned appearance.

Because calf enlargement only addresses the lower part of the legs, some patients may wish to combine the procedure with liposuction in the upper thighs or buttocks if they hold disproportionate amounts of fat. In order to ensure that each patient is able to reach his or her cosmetic goals, Dr. Nein will assist you in developing the right approach to your calf enlargement surgery.

Planning Your Surgery

Prior to your calf enlargement surgery, you will schedule a consultation with Dr. Nein during which you can discuss with him your goals for calf enlargement, concerns about the procedure and the most likely results you can expect.

Dr. Nein will conduct a physical evaluation to determine the condition of your calves. He will also inquire about your general health, past illnesses, injuries and lifestyle habits. He may ask you to refrain from certain medications or substances prior to your surgery and during recovery.

Additionally, Dr. Nein will review any variables that may affect your candidacy for calf enlargement and explain the details of the surgery, including anesthesia, the procedural steps, limitations and cost. He will also go over incision placement and any risks involved.

While your consultation with Dr. Nein is an opportune time to ask him any questions regarding calf enlargement, feel free to contact us at any other time with additional questions or concerns. We are happy to provide our patients with optimal support through every step of their procedure.

Your Recovery & Results

After your surgery, mild to moderate discomfort is to be expected and can be relieved with medications. Redness, swelling and bruising is especially normal during the first few days following surgery, but should subside over the course of the next week. Dr. Nein may provide you with a surgical bandage or compression garment, which should be worn at his instruction.

The first 1 to 2 days of recovery, patients should remain off their feet as much as possible with the legs elevated. After that, you can begin walking lightly around the house, gradually building up to normal walking in the second or third week of recovery. Patients can slowly and carefully resume more active exercises over the next month. However, take care not to strain the calf muscles too much, as this can alter the shape of the implant pocket.

Once calf enlargement recovery is complete, patients should have more toned and augmented calf muscles that provide better balance to their overall figures. For many, calf enlargement can assist in psychologically moving on from a past illness, injury or genetic condition. For others, the procedure can help create the right contours for a more shapely or muscular look, enhancing self confidence and delivering a long-lasting solution to difficult muscle gain.
